Community Creates Spring Celebration

Throughout the past year of the Community Creates programme, some incredible work has been created by resident-artists - from photos, to sculptures, theatre pieces and choir songs, choreography to self-portraits. Now, we want to celebrate all that amazing art!

On Saturday 25th March 2023, 12-3pm, we will be hosting our Spring Celebration in the Swiss Cottage Open Space (green space behind Hampstead Theatre) as well as the surrounding buildings. Everything is completely free and the full event programme is below!

11am - 1pm - Family Friendly Sculpture drop-in - The Winch (last entry 12:15pm)

12pm - 12:45pm - Open Choir Session - Swiss Cottage Open Space

12pm - 12:40pm - Backstage Tour - Hampstead Theatre (meet in the foyer by the Box Office, limited spaces and first come first served)

12pm - 3pm - Learn to Knit drop in class - Swiss Cottage Open Space

12pm - 2:30pm - Self-Portrait drop in class - Swiss Cottage Library

12pm - til it’s gone - free food from our friends at Arabesque - Swiss Cottage Open Space (please come to the information stall and not the restaurant!)

12:45pm - 1:15pm - Silent Disco Zumba - Swiss Cottage Open Space

1:30pm - 2:15pm - Performances from our Dance and Play in a Day groups - Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (meet on the steps outside at 1:20pm)

Perform a Play in a Day with Sharon

Calling all local actors! We're looking for performers to bring to life our Play in a Day, a brand new play written by local residents the day before. Rehearse and perform the same day in a short production celebrating our creative community led by Hilgrove estate resident and theatre director Sharon Willems.

Suitable for all levels of experience. The performance will be script in hand. Part of the Community Creates Spring Celebration. Sign up to write or perform or both. Free for all to participate or attend.

Rehearsals will take place 10am-12pm, then join us for free lunch in the Swiss Cottage Open Space before returning for the performance from 1:30pm.

This session take place as part Community Creates. The Community Creates programme is a resident-led arts and theatre programme for the north Camden community. From complete beginners to prima ballerinas, everyone is welcome at our Community Creates 8-week dance course.

8 weekly classes, led by the wonderful Marianne Rouvier-Angeli, ending in an (optional) performance on 25th March 2023. Lessons take place on Fridays, 6:15-7:30pm, at the Winch. The first session is Friday 3rd February 2023 and the last lesson is Friday 24th March 2023, before a performance on the following day.

  • AGES: 16+ (if you are below this age - you may still be able to attend. Please just first ask an adult to get in touch with imogen@northcamdenzone.org to discuss further).

  • WHAT TO BRING: Please wear comfortable clothing which you can move in and a water bottle.

  • ACCESS INFOMATION: Marianne Rouvier-Angeli has significant experience in working with dancers with a range of abilities and disabilities - please do get in touch if you require any specific support and we will do our best to accommodate you.

    The Mandleson Room at the Winch, where sessions are booked to take place, is up two flights of stairs. There is no step-free access. For the first session please bring a print of a nature of urban landscape photograph. This does not need to be printed on photography paper, it can be printed from a normal home printer on paper. If you do not have access to a printer, please send your photo to jen@northcamdenzone.org by Monday 20th February and it will be printed and brought to the workshop for you.

Please bring a mobile phone with a camera or your own camera. If you do not have access to a camera or camera phone, please contact jen@northcamdenzone.org who can reserve you a camera.

All Camden residents aged 16+ are welcome at our Community Creates Nature and Urban Landscape Photography course!

These sessions take place as part Community Creates. The Community Creates programme is a resident-led arts and theatre programme for the north Camden community. It connects local artists, residents and organisations to deliver a series of free arts and theatre workshops and events that the whole community can take part in and enjoy. It is designed and delivered by residents and artists working together, and organised by North Camden Zone and Hampstead Theatre. WHAT TO BRING:

For the first session please bring a print of a nature of urban landscape photograph. This does not need to be printed on photography paper, it can be printed from a normal home printer on paper. If you do not have access to a printer, please send your photo to jen@northcamdenzone.org by Monday 20th February and it will be printed and brought to the workshop for you.

Please bring a mobile phone with a camera or your own camera. If you do not have access to a camera or camera phone, please contact jen@northcamdenzone.org who can reserve you a camera.

ACCESS INFORMATION: We strive to include as many people as possible in our sessions - please do get in touch if you require any specific support and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Nalton House has step free access but unfortunately is not wheelchair friendly. There are toilets on site but these are not accessible. There is an accessible toilet is at St Johns Wood tube station and another at the Hampstead Theatre. There is an outdoor space which is often quiet if you need to take a break. From complete beginners to prima ballerinas, everyone is welcome at our Community Creates 8-week dance course.

8 weekly classes, led by the wonderful Marianne Rouvier-Angeli, ending in an (optional) performance on 25th March 2023. Lessons take place on Fridays, 6:15-7:30pm, at the Winch. The first session is Friday 3rd February 2023 and the last lesson is Friday 24th March 2023, before a performance on the following day.

  • AGES: 16+ (if you are below this age - you may still be able to attend. Please just first ask an adult to get in touch with imogen@northcamdenzone.org to discuss further).

  • WHAT TO BRING: Please wear comfortable clothing which you can move in and a water bottle.

  • ACCESS INFOMATION: Marianne Rouvier-Angeli has significant experience in working with dancers with a range of abilities and disabilities - please do get in touch if you require any specific support and we will do our best to accommodate you.

    The Mandleson Room at the Winch, where sessions are booked to take place, is up two flights of stairs. There is no step-free access. Come and meet your Sidney Boyd Community Organisers and connect with friends and neighbours during our regular Wednesday morning Bring a Mug tea and coffee morning. Takes place on the third Wednesday of each month for residents of Sidney Boyd Court.

Bray TRA Room has step-free access via the side entrance of the Bray block. Unfortunately, due to the width of the doorway, there is no wheelchair access. Please get in touch with us if this will cause a barrier to your attendance. We are committed to doing all we can to ensure our workshops are as accessible as possible and will look to find alternative space if necessary.

There are toilets available in the Bray TRA Room, although toilets are not accessible. The nearest accessible toilet is at the Hampstead Theatre. There is often quieter space available outside the TRA Room if you need to take a break from the session. Please get in touch with imogen@northcamdenzone.org if you have specific access needs or questions about accessibility. Community Creates: Dance (Session 2)

From complete beginners to prima ballerinas, everyone is welcome at our Community Creates 8-week dance course.

8 weekly classes, led by the wonderful Marianne Rouvier-Angeli, ending in an (optional) performance on 25th March 2023. Lessons take place on Fridays, 6:15-7:30pm, at the Winch. The first session is Friday 3rd February 2023 and the last lesson is Friday 24th March 2023, before a performance on the following day.

  • AGES: 16+ (if you are below this age - you may still be able to attend. Please just first ask an adult to get in touch with imogen@northcamdenzone.org to discuss further).

  • WHAT TO BRING: Please wear comfortable clothing which you can move in and a water bottle.

  • ACCESS INFOMATION: Marianne Rouvier-Angeli has significant experience in working with dancers with a range of abilities and disabilities - please do get in touch if you require any specific support and we will do our best to accommodate you.

    The Mandleson Room at the Winch, where sessions are booked to take place, is up two flights of stairs. There is no step-free access. Please get in touch with us if this will cause a barrier to your attendance. We are committed to doing all we can to ensure our workshops are as accessible as possible and will look to find alternative spaces if necessary.

    There are male and female toilets next to the Mandleson Room as well as an accessible, all-gender bathroom on the first floor. There is often quieter space available in the stairwell and at reception if you need to take a break from the class.
